Follow along this year's event as riders take on 1,100 km of rugged terrain.
Every summer, the small idyllic village of Tolga comes alive as the start and finish of Bright Midnight, a 1,100 km self-supported bikepacking race through Norway’s remote highlands, vast national parks, glacial valleys, and dramatic fjord landscapes.
Known for its “midnight sun” and rugged terrain, Bright Midnight is the ultimate test of endurance under extended daylight. The night doesn’t sleep, and neither will your dream to complete the event.

What is Bright Midnight?
Founded and directed by endurance cyclist Justinas Leveika, Bright Midnight is the ultimate test of endurance.
More than 250 riders will set off from Tolga on Sunday, 6th July, 2025, at 10 am to complete 1,100 km of rugged terrain while basking in warm sun, cool mists, dramatic downpours, and everything in between.
Riders have 10 days to complete the course with no outside support. There are no pacers, team vehicles, or nutritional support. It’s each rider, their gear, and the determination to conquer the rugged but beautiful Norwegian terrain.

Route Overview
The route is approximately 85% gravel, spanning 1,100 kilometres through the Norwegian wilderness — into the mythical home of the Giants and back across the rugged Highlands.
Riders will have to traverse mountain roads, fjord-side cliffs, and National Parks, like Jotunheim and Forollhogna, as they saddle up for more than 20,000m of elevation gain.
Expect chilly mountain nights, dark mornings, and many bright nights. The weather is as chilling as the mindset needed to complete the event.
Although the midnight sun means you will rarely experience total darkness, lights are mandatory, especially in tunnels, high-altitude zones, and other treacherous terrain.

You carry your own gear, find your own way, and set off to complete a task few would ever attempt.
